Releases at 30-40 lb downward

The Break-A-Way Curtain
Engineered to fail safely. Each header tab releases under 30-40 lbs of downward load and reattaches by hand in under 60 seconds -- no tools, no ladder. Specified across behavioral health, psychiatric, and correctional facilities.
Every Break-A-Way curtain is custom-fabricated to your bay dimensions. Specify your fabric, panel size, and quantity — we'll return a quote with a cut sheet within 72 hours.
A curtain that releases before it holds weight.
Releases under load
Hook-and-loop safety tabs release at 35 lb of downward force. The curtain falls in one piece -- the ligature point is eliminated before harm is possible.
Reattaches without tools
EVS or nursing staff presses the header tab back up by hand. Room is back in service in under 60 seconds -- no ladder, no hardware, no maintenance call.
Inherent-FR fiber
Flame resistance is engineered into the polyester yarn, not sprayed on. NFPA 701 compliance holds through 200+ industrial wash cycles at 160 degrees F.
Pairs with IFC-69 and IFC-79
Designed specifically for the IFC-69 ceiling-mount and IFC-79 wall-mount slider tape tracks. The anti-ligature tab header replaces the standard grommet-and-hook attachment.
Anti-ligature, fully documented.

What release weight should I specify?
35 lb is our standard for most behavioral health applications. Specify 25 lb for higher-acuity units where faster release is required, or 45 lb where accidental releases from staff contact are a concern. Our clinical team can advise based on your facility's risk classification.
How is this different from the Classic Cubicle Curtain?
The Classic Cubicle Curtain uses #14 grommets and ball-chain carriers -- a standard hook-and-ring system. The Break-A-Way replaces the grommet header with hook-and-loop safety tabs that release under load. It requires the IFC-69 or IFC-79 slider tape track, not the standard IFC-98 ball-carrier track.
What track does this work with?
The Break-A-Way curtain is designed for use with the IFC-69 ceiling-mount slider tape track and the IFC-79 wall-mount slider tape track. It is not compatible with standard ball-carrier tracks (IFC-98) -- those use grommets and hooks, not safety tabs.
Can I specify a custom color or pattern?
Yes. The Break-A-Way curtain is available in our full polyester fabric library -- the same 42 colorways as the Classic Cubicle Curtain. Request a free swatch deck from our samples page.
